12 KIGS Students Gained Valuable Learning Experience

 April 27th, 2016  |  05:15 AM  |   1156 views

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

The 12 Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) students who participated in the Global Campus (GC) London programme have gained quite a learning experience while studying at Lim Kok Wing University in London.

Among them is Dayang Siti Rahmah binti Haji Abdul Mutalip, a 2nd year student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, who noted that the Global Campus London was a great programme for her.

"The programme taught me plenty about leadership, teamwork, punctuality and most importantly, how to stand up against all odds. It gave us the opportunity to improve our people skills as it required us to step out of our comfort zone and to communicate with others from multicultural backgrounds."

She said visits to places such as the Coca-Cola factory, Audi City London showroom, Warner Bros, House of Parliament, London Eye, Portobello Market and the Museum of Transport has taught them how the country became what it is today

In under a month, the students made friends with people from all over the world, building connections in a structured manner. This entirely changed her perspective on university life.

Final year student Dayang Yuriana Safia binti Abdul Majid Yunus, pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology course, noted that GC London was a month-long programme that taught a sense of independence.

It brought rapid personal development in terms of leadership, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, creativity and intellectual skills to think quickly and find solutions. We had to work in groups with different students from different countries with different cultures and ethnicities, she said.

Meanwhile, Dayang Kurnia Dessy Anggaeni binti Haji Mohammad Johari noted that every visit left a memorable memory - each different from one another, such as visiting the House of Parliament, where they got the chance to study the English Law System, the work of the House of Commons, House of Lords, the acts of the parliament which has its own history that is also unique in its own way

She added that GC is not only an educational programme, but also a tourism programme that provides students the exclusive opportunity to study and enjoy, despite the tasks and assignments given.

"The most stressful but memorable task for me was that we had to design a Coca-Cola London Eye cubicle, which I, as an accounting student had never done before. We learnt practical marketing, designing, the London transportation system, the making of wax figures, magazine cover design, etc. It was fun and in a way, it helped improve our confidence."
