Today, students have many choices in the direction they wish to take after completing their BCGCE 'O' Level.
But where they go is also dependant on their respective results. To make students aware of their available choices in order to make informed decisions, a briefing cum exhibition was held yesterday for '0' Level students in the Tutong District.
More than 300 Year 11 students from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School and Muda Hashim Secondary School, Tutong attended the briefing called 'Hala Tuju Selepas 'O' Level' (After 'O' Level Directions) Programme.
The event was organised by the Counselling and Career Guidance Unit, Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School and Muda Hashim Secondary School.
Besides academic institutions, agencies involved in the programme included various uniformed agencies such as Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force and Fire and Rescue Department to provide students with information regarding opportunities in the military, police and fire and rescue services.
The principal of Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Cikgu Dayangku Hajah Norahizan binti Pengiran Haji Bungsu, said the event was organised for students who will be sitting for their BCGCE 'O' Level exams this year. The students will have to take the right decision that will determine the direction of their future.
She added that students and their parents are fortunate to have such programmes, which are very useful.
The students obtained first-hand information during the event which enabled them to interact with a total of 18 agencies.
The programme aimed to provide opportunities for parents/guardians to identify their children's potential and to give support and encouragement to them.
