The Government Printing Department (JPK) held its JPK Customer Day yesterday at its headquarters.

The event was launched by the Acting Director of JPK, Awang Haji Kamarul Azam bin Haji Mohamad.

In a speech, the acting director explained that the JPK Customer Day is aimed at highlighting the books produced and the services provided by JPK, not only to the public but also private companies.

"I am often asked, can the public reserve and buy books published by the Government Printing Department? Where is it located, how is it done? Questions like these are often asked and it shows that there are still many among the public who are not aware about the services provided by JPK."

"With that, the Customer Day we are holding today is aimed at highlighting further the books that are produced and the services that are offered by JPK not only to government agencies but also to the public and private companies," he said.

JPK products include religious books such as Mushaf Al-Quran, Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil, Takhtim Al-Quran, Ratib Al-Attas, Dikir Syarafil Anam, Dikir Dabaie and Doa-Doa Pilihan.

JPK also produces government gazettes and offers value-added printing, which includes gilt-edging, embossing, hot stamping, book binding and attaching book covers.

In his speech, the acting director shared that, in the near future, JPK will be looking into a number of books that it produces such as the Surah Yaasiin book, where a large part of its content will be standardised with Khat (Islamic calligraphy).

He also said that selected Doa (prayers) contained within it such as Doa Tahlil, Doa Selamat, Doa Kesyukuran and Doa Tolak Bala will also be given a translation in Malay language.

The JPK Customer Day also featured the launch of the newly renovated Customer Service Section.

In addition, the proceedings saw attendees at the launch get to tour the various facilities of the department where the printing and binding processes are carried out.

The tour gave them the opportunity to learn more about processes such as making printing plates, paper cutting, paper folding, book binding, the attachment of hardcovers and softcovers on books, hot-stamping and gilt-edging.

Among those who attended the event yesterday were public relations officers as well as representatives from government agencies, private companies and educational institutions in the country.

"To all our customers, thank you for being our valued customers. We are grateful for the pleasure of serving you and meeting your printing needs. Please let us know anytime we can improve our service to you," added the acting director in his speech.
