The Department of Information launched a two-day carnival at the Petani Mall in Tutong yesterday to showcase its different divisions and roles.

The launching ceremony was attended by Awang Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad, Acting Director of Information as well as senior officials and staff from the Information Department and their families.

The mini carnival in Tutong District will be concluded today.

The carnival offers a number of programmes and activities including public quizzes and competitions.

The Department of Information, previously known as Information Services, was established on April 1, 1952.

The objectives of the department are to inculcate and preserve loyalty and love for the king and the country, while also handling the affairs related to media as well as the promotion of national events.

The department also publishes Pelita Brunei, the official government newsletter, which is issued on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
