4 Officers Suspected of Using Excessive Force to Be Tried in May

The Magistrate's Court yesterday fixed May for trial against four policemen alleged to have assaulted a suspect in a theft case.

 

PC 5807 Muhd Mu'izwan bin Kamran, Cpl 4718 Liew Chee Chian, Cpl 4473 Herdey anak Bujang and L/Cpl 5371 Muhammad Hafizan Bin Abdulkhan have maintained their innocence to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to Inayatullah bin Matasin at 1am on March 14, 2016 at Jalan Perayaan, Berakas.

 

Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefii added May 16 to 21 for the trial to run while maintaining the trial dates running from May 23-28, 2016.

 

All four defendants, unrepresented, are out on bail of BND$5,000 or in one local surety.

 

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shamshuddin bin Haji Kamaluddin appeared on behalf of the Public Prosecutor yesterday.
