A group of Year 12 and 13 female students from the Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTE Tutong) took part in a self-defence class yesterday, conducted by Awang Ismadey bin Haji Hussin, Awang Md Izhar Ibnu bin Haji Md Huzaimi and Awang Mohd Adi Iqbal bin Mohd Noor, from the ADN Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Fitness Gym.

The self-defence components of the workshop featured some of the common attacks or threats, and demonstrated simple methods to counter them. The students were also briefed on how to predict danger and avoid potentially unsafe circumstances.

"Knowing that you have the ability to defend yourself gives you the confidence and freedom to meet new people and perform daily tasks. On top of that, mastering self-defence skills is essential for protecting yourself and your loved ones too," said Teo Ying Ying, the head of the yoga club at PTE Tutong, who initiated the idea.
