Brunei Darussalam is currently ranked 12th out of 73 countries in the Halal Industry Growth. The achievement obtained from the Thomson Reuters Report on Global Islamic Economy 2017 showing an improvement compared to the past year, ranks the country in 17th place. This increase, according to the Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office, is attributed to the growth of Halal travel and strong performance in the Halal Food ecosystem development. The minister added that government will continue to conduct dialogues on the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order (amended) 2017 to raise awareness and listen to feedback from businesses and the public.

Yang Berhormat ang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamenteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar made the speech at the opening of the Brunei Halal Showcase, BruHAS 2017 yesterday. From the government and regulations perspective, Yang Berhormat Pehin explained, it is their duty that Micro, Small, and Medium Entrepreneurs, MSME's and the public are able to understand and access information on Halal certifications, guidelines, and standards, while also making the process efficient, clear, and convenient.

 

More than 50 Micro, Small, and Medium Entrepreneurs are taking part in the expo. The expo is participated by local and international companies from industries such as Food, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, Travel and Tour Agencies, Household Products and Halal Service Providers. Also present was Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education.

 BruHAS which takes place until this Friday at the BRIDEX Conference Hall in Jerudong is jointly organised by the Department of Energy and Industry, Prime Minister's Office and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA. 4 main activities will be highlighted, namely The Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services Expo (EKSPPHAT); the 2nd International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT II); BruHAS

Dialogue on Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order (Amended) 2017 and Halal Logistics as well as the Halal Clinic.
