Farewell Parade for the Peacekeeping Contigent to Lebanon

30 Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF personnel is sent for a peacekeeping tour of duty in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL). The RBAF contingent is join the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces personnel of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-5. A farewell parade for the peacekeeping contingent took place this morning at the Bolkiah Garrison Multi-purpose Hall in Berakas.
During the ceremony, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the RBAF, presented the National flag to Major Khairul Azme bin Haji Mohidin, Head of the UNIFIL Contingent and was later introduced to the members of the contingent. Also present were (Retired) Captain Dato Paduka Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, and His Excellency Datuk Ghulam Jelani bin Khanizaman, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam. The country has been participating in UNIFIL since 2008.
Meanwhile, a Doa selamat ceremony was also held this afternoon to supplicate for the safety, wellbeing and safe journey of the Officers and personnel of the team. It began with the reading of Al-Quran, the Zohor prayer, followed by the Doa Selamat.
