A total of 95 students from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School (SMSAB) in Lambak Kanan yesterday earned their honours, in an awarding ceremony, not only for students who have excelled in their academic pursuits but also those who developed all-round skills and attained remarkable achievements in their studies.

The guest of honour at the event, which took place at the school's multipurpose hall, was Awang Nudin bin Haji Mohammad, Assistant Director of the Department of Schools and Head of Schools Performance Management Section at the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa followed by a welcoming speech by the school's Principal Sia Ai Chin, in her capacity as the chairperson of the event.

Awang Nudin, in his speech, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the parents and teachers for their concerted efforts and support in enhancing the whole-person development and grooming the future leadership.

He also congratulated all, the recipients of the award for their outstanding accomplishments in their studies.

He also emphasised the need to acknowledge students who have the skills and talents in non-academic fields, particularly the technical and vocational students, so as to develop them in achieving their maximum potential.

The event continued with a motivational speech by the Best Student recipient, Dayang Amirah Atikah binti Haji Jazlan, who shared her words of advice and tips in facing the upcoming examination and encouraged students to work hard and succeed in their academics.

The ceremony then saw several stage performances from the students prior to the presentation of awards and certificates to the celebrated students, for their excellent achievements in academic as well as co-curricular activities, by the guest of honour.

A Doa Selamat was later recited marking the end of the event.
