Providing a better basic understanding on financial management and the importance of financial planning are among the objectives of the 'Financial Literacy Workshop for Mothers and their Children' organised by the Women's Institute, WI this Sunday. Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohammad Ali, the advisor of W-I said the workshop is held as part of the organisation's efforts to impart financial literacy knowledge to the participants and raise awareness on the importance of sound financial planning towards producing a visionary generation with stronger financial resilience.

Datin Hajah Masni said that W-I continues to care for the welfare of women and mothers. She added that the workshop will also touch on ways to secure micro-credit financing from banks for those wishing to start a business as well as those who already have their own small businesses.

The workshop will be attended by single mothers from the Brunei Muara district who come from the low-income group and have dependents aged between 5 and 12 years old. The workshop is conducted by volunteers comprising Standard Chartered Bank officers and University Brunei Darussalam students, and is organised in collaboration with the Bank and Radisson Hotel.
