Ministries Qurban Ceremony

The Qurban or sacrificial rites ceremony teaches Muslims to sacrifice part of their sustenance and fortune given by Allah the Almighty. It also reminds the ummah to be grateful to Allah the Almighty for the blessings and gifts that have been given to them. Several ministries this afternoon held Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebrations and sacrificial rites ceremonies.

 

The Ministry of Home Affairs and departments under it held a sacrificial rites ceremony at the Multipurpose Hall of the Fire and Rescue Department in Berakas. Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. The ceremony was enlivened with a talk delivered by Doctor Ahmad Asri Lubis, Assistant Lecturer at the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA.

 

4 buffaloes and 2 goats were sacrificed at the ceremony. The sacrificial meat was distributed to 31 individual comprising the poor and destitute from Mukim Berakas 'A' and 'B' as well as staff of the ministry and its departments. Also present were Legislative Council Members, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon, Penghulu of Mukim Berakas 'B'; Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis, Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu; Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, Village Head of Kampung Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong. Also present was Awang Haji Muhammad Sunadi bin Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

The Ministry of Education, meanwhile sacrificed 7 buffaloes in a similar ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Katok Secondary School. The sacrificial meat was distributed to 182 recipients by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education. Also present was Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education.

 

The Ministry of Finance and departments under it sacrificed 7 cows, 2 buffaloes and 3 goats this year. The distribution of the sacrificial meat was held at the Ministry in Commonwealth Drive. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance, was among those to distribute the sacrificial meat to 88 recipients. Also present to hand over the sacrificial meat were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Finance (Fiscal); and Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment). The ceremony was conducted by the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

 

Also holding a similar ceremony was the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and departments under it. The ceremony took place at the Ministry in Jalan Menteri Besar. The sacrificial meat was distributed to 81 recipients by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. 3 cows were sacrificed at the ceremony which was conducted by the Fisheries Department. Also present was Awang Wardi bin Haji Muhammad Ali, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

 

Meanwhile, 6 buffaloes were sacrificed in a sacrificial rites ceremony and Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration organised by the Ministry of Communications and departments under it. The sacrificial meat was handed over by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Minister of Communications to orphans as well as officers and staff of the Ministry and its departments. The ceremony, conducted by the land Transport Department, was highlighted with a special talk delivered by Doctor Andas Haji Ismuhadi bin Haji Abdullah, a speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre. Also present were the Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.

 

The Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports and departments under it held a similar ceremony at the Youth Development Centre in Kampung Tanah Jambu. The ceremony was enlivened with a short talk delivered by Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, a speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.

 

2 buffaloes and 2 cattles were sacrificed in the ceremony, and the sacrificial meat was distributed to 320 individuals comprising the poor and destitute as well as orphans. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports handed over the sacrificial meat to the male recipients, while the female recipients received their share from Dayang Hajah Zuraini binti Haji Sarbawi, Acting Director of Social Service, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.
