Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China have agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between both countries for the benefit of both peoples, including in the fields of economic cooperation and connectivity. The agreement was reached following the signing of 5 agreements at Liyuan resort in Nanning, Guangxi, People's Republic of China during the 14th China-ASEAN Expo.

 

The signing of the agreements was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Hj Umar, Minister at the Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office. These agreements were signed following the successful state visit of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam to China and the bilateral meeting with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China on the 13th of September 2017.

 

Darussalam Assets signed two agreements in Continued Collaboration Opportunities with Guangxi Beibu Gulf, involving a Contribution Agreement to improve the efficiency and level of services provided by the Muara Container Terminal, and a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a Logistics Park to be located at a site in close proximity to the Muara Port.

 

Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co. Ltd meanwhile will explore opportunities in DARe's industrial parks. Signing on behalf of Darussalam Assets was Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment) and the Chief Executive Officer of Darussalam Assets, while Beibu Gulf was represented by its chairman Mr. Zhou Xiaoxi.

 

Meanwhile, Hengyi Industries Sendirian Berhad signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow the 2nd Phase development of Hengyi (Brunei) PMB Petrochemical Project.

 

Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Beijing Dachengxingye Investing Management which will allow RB to resume direct flights to Beijing by December 2017. Beibu Gulf and Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd highlights the significant progress that has been made by the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in attracting foreign direct investment. The establishment of the joint venture, the Muara Port Company with Guangxi Beibu also further emphasizes the Government of Brunei Darussalam's determination to improve the ease of doing business in the country
