Bruneian students are visiting Japan in JENESYS2017 as part of Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs, an exchange program launched by Japanese Government.
JENESYS2017 aims at having those young people go and look at “real Japan” and its cultural, economic or technological features and understand its substantial interest and business needs towards Brunei. They are highly encouraged to disseminate their learning and findings in Japan and promote the relationship going forward between the two countries.
Under JENESYS2017, “the Japan-ASEAN Students Conference” is going to be held as the composite 1st batch with a commemorative of the ASEAN 50th Anniversary. It is composed of promising University Students from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and Japan (11 students and 1 supervisor/country, 132 in whole). The main objective of the Conference is
“What the Youth in AMS and Japan can do for Peace and Prosperity.”
In this program, students from each countries will be divided into 4 thematic composite groups as follows;
In the first half part of the program, each group will have the theme-related lecture and is to visit the theme-related places in Tokyo and local areas (Iwate, Miyagi, Fukuoka and Kumamoto prefecture respectively). After the observation, the participants are expected to consider how they can contribute to the societies in AMS and Japan.
Bruneian students will discuss these assigned themes at Workshops of “the Japan-ASEAN Students Conference” with the students from other AMS and Japan. At the end of the program, they will draw up “The Declaration for the Action” which is the compiled consensus of all the 4 groups. The Declaration will be presented at the reporting session and submitted to ASEAN Secretariat in Indonesia (Jakarta) and MOFA of Japan.
