PARIS, France

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is on his last leg of two-week study visit to Europe, on Monday visited the Dassault Systèmes near the French capital.

Dassault Systèmes is a French multinational software and scientific company that develops 3D design, 3D digital mock-up, and product lifecycle management software with clients worldwide.

The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by the State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, was briefed by key officials of the company on its background, products and worldwide operations and gave demonstrations on 3D simulations for certain project solutions.

In his short address to thank the company for receiving his delegation, the Chief Minister said the 3D technology could provide useful tool for Sarawak to find time and cost saving customised solutions to minimise environmental pollution, develop models to harness its renewable energy sources, public transportation and raw materials for production of zero emission fuels.

The Chief Minister and his delegation, prior to the stop over here, had been on a tour of Finland, Estonia and Germany with a mission to gain insight into policies, explore new technologies and experiences as well as creating platforms for collaboration in Sarawak’s quest towards digitising its economy.

Of particular interest to the Chief Minister was the success of Estonia, a former Russian territory, to transform itself into a digital economy in a relatively short period of time and zero-emission fuel technology in Germany.

Members of his delegation included Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, Chairman of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Hussain, Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and key government officers.
