KOTA KINABALU

Eleven Parti Warisan Sabah members yesterday gave police statements over the rally in front of Kota Kinabalu court on Oct 10.

The statements were recorded at Kota Kinabalu Police Headquarters, here yesterday morning.

They were to assist in the investigation of the rally of 200-300 people as a sign of solidarity with the youth chief and vice-president who were remanded by the court to assist investigation of misappropriation of  public funds for Sabah’s rural projects by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Among them were deputy president Darrel Leiking (Penampang MP),  vice president Junz Wong (Likas State Assemblyman), treasurer Terrence Siambun (Moyog State Assemblyman) and permanent secretary, Loretto Padua Jr.

When contacted, Kota Kinabalu City Police chief ACP M. Chandra confirmed the matter, but declined to elaborate.

The party’s youth chief and vice-president were among eight people remanded to assist in the investigation of misappropriation of rural project funds amounting to RM180 million.

It was part of the RM1.5 billion misappropriated in a ministry. The RM1.5 billion is part of the federal government’s allocation of RM7.5 billion to a ministry for Sabah’s rural projects from 2009 to 2015. — Bernama
