TEMBURONG
Freme Travel Services is hoping to double the number of visitors to the Freme Adventure Park and Rainforest Lodge in Batang Duri.
The company has set a target of 6,000 visitors this year compared to 3,000 visitors, which included foreign nationals, in 2015.
Freme Travel is one of the few travel agents in the Sultanate that is aggressively promoting Temburong as a beacon for local tourism.
Offering attractions such as the first of its kind 43-metre climbing tower, a 130-metre high flying fox that spans across the Batang Duri River and a 70-metre long suspension bridge, the adventure park and lodge offer visitors plenty of thrills and adventure.
Tie facilities cost around $400,000 to build.
Freme Managing Director Michael Lee said, "Bruneians and foreigners are visiting Temburong. We are always fully booked on the weekend."
He added "The pristine forest in Temburong is the 'Green Jewel' of Brunei. We are promoting nature and adventure as well as culture of Brunei. We have water and outdoor nature activities as well as team-building activities."
Sugumaran Nair, the Inbound and MICE Division Manager of Freme, said that besides tourists, students are also making trips to Temburong to get in touch with nature.
"Recently, a big Korean group visited Freme Adventure Park and Rainforest Lodge but we couldn't accommodate a huge number of visitors as we take safety as our priority. Our lodge can only accommodate up to 40 people."
With the 'construction of the Temburong Bridge expected to be completed in the coming years, Michael Lee said he believes that Temburong will see an influx of tourists seeking the thrills of adventure tourism.
