Japanese Tea Ceremony Demonstration and Calligraphy Exhibition

Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah binti His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah this afternoon attended the Formal Tea Ceremony Demonstration, Calligraphy, Potteries and Ceramics, Paintings and Handicrafts Exhibition. The exhibition, highlighting culture tourism and supported by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, was held at the Atrium Lobby of the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.


Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. In his welcoming remarks, Mr Okochi Hiroshi, Director of Smart Shield (B) Sendirian Berhad and Smart Coating Technologies Sendirian Berhad, among other things said that the event is to promote and strengthen the relationship between Brunei and Japan, in commerce and culture. Her Royal Highness then officiated the ceremony. Her Royal Highness received pasambah from those who participated in the exhibition.


Her Royal Highness watched a Formal Tea Ceremony Demonstration by Madam Rie Takeda, descendents of the Master Artisans. She has more than 30 years of experience performing the tea ceremony, and 20 years' experience as an instructor. Her Royal Highness was also given a demonstration of a Japanese Calligraphy by Madam Rinsetsu Yoshikawa, Master in Japanese Calligraphy. She has more than 20 years of experience creating calligraphy.


Her Royal Highness then proceeded to take a closer look at the Japan Calligraphy, The Potteries and Ceramics, as well as Handicrafts and Art Exhibition. Her Royal Highness then signed the guest book. At the function, Her Royal Highness also witnessed the handing over of donation from Mr Okochi Hiroshi to Brunei Japan Friendship Association. The exhibition is open to the public starting Today until Sunday.
