Jerudong FC Lost to Kota Ranger with 4-2

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Awangku Ammar Hanafie Pengiran Hassanuddin scored the fastest goal of the season after only 40 seconds as Kota Ranger cruised to an emphatic 4-2 win over winless Jerudong FC in the Brunei DST Super League at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

Hidayatur Rahim Aliuddin levelled the tie inside six minutes before a spell which saw both sides carving out the chances.

Kota Ranger went in search to retake the lead as Md Hairun Ikhwan Kusno struck a volley wide after being intelligently set up from midfield.

Jerudong's Noorzaimin Zaini delivered a near accurate free-kick with the ball just missing the top corner.

The adventurous Mohd Farhan Zawawi Zainidi drove forward with interest and his team-mate inadvertently got enough contact though unable to meet the target.

The newly promoted side regained the lead after captain Abang Nor Silmmy Abang Taha powered a thumping header home.

Kota Ranger had a goal disallowed after Md Harun Ikhwan was caught offside which saved Jerudong's shot-stopper Abd Hafiz Haji Mursadi from embarrassment after he was beaten to the ball by Hazmie Anak Nyaring.

There was a moment of controversy before the end of the first half with a group of Kota Ranger players appealing for handball but it was the right call for the referee not to award a penalty.

With Md Hairun in hot pursuit, the Jerudong defence collapsed and his persistence was instantly rewarded lobbing the ball off the goalkeeper with defender Mohd Arif Azamin found guilty of ball-watching to extend his side's lead.

The goal has seemingly lifted the confidence of the striker as the attacking-minded player rushed forward to nick the ball off the Jerudong goalkeeper to slot it into the empty net.

Md Arif bin Ali Rahman scored a mere consolation after grabbing a header at the near post which flew past the outstretched arm of Kota Ranger's goalkeeper Mohd Faizal Hashim.
