The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) hosted the sixth Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 'C' Certificate coaching course yesterday.

The course, led by AFC instructor Stephen Ng Heng Seng, saw a total of 14 participants taking part in the course, which will conclude on April 8.

Awang Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz, Exco member of NFABD, said, "NFABD wants to see more local coaches participating in this course in order to raise our football standards, especially for the two national leagues - DST Super League and Brunei DST Premier League.

"NFABD has urged all clubs participating in the national leagues to ensure their coaches possesses the AFC 'C' Certificate at least.

"This is very important for the clubs to stay committed to raising the standard of the sport.

"NFABD is doing whatever it takes to produce quality local coaches, who can also contribute to producing quality youth footballers."

Meanwhile, Ng who is also a senior coach with NFABD, said, "Coaches with the AFC 'C' certification will be recognised by AFC in the region.

"After the successful completion of the coaching course, participants are encouraged to take up the AFC 'B' Certificate. "

He said NFABD was in the process of introducing the 'D' certification a basic coaching course, which allows members of the public to participate.
