His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office attended the Premier Forum of the Knowledge Convention 2017. The Forum is one of the celebratory events in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 71st birthday celebration and is also timely with the 50th anniversary of religious services and 50 years of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne. The ceremony took place yesterday morning at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd.Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, as the Chairmen of the Knowledge Convention 2017 Steering Committee; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti as Advisor to the Knowledge Convention 2017 Steering Committee and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the Knowledge Convention 2017 Premier Forum Working Committee.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah.

The ceremony began with a reading of surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal. Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming speech among other matters talked about the forum's theme which was "MENDUKUNG KEPIMPINAN RAJA" or UPHOLDING THE MONARCH'S LEADERSHIP that urges the citizens and residents residing in the country to uphold and assist in any actions that encourages us as Muslims to become closer to Allah the Almighty.

The Premier Forum entitled "BELIA ASET NEGARA PENDUKUNG KEPIMPINAN RAJA", or Youth, the Nations Assets, Upholder of the Monarch's Leadership, was chaired by Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad, member of the Legislative Council. Yang Berbahagia Sahibus Samahah Datuk Doktor Zulkifli Mohamad Al Bakri, Mufti of the Malaysian Federal Territory, in discussing the forum's title quoted the sabda of Prophet Muhammad SAW on being young.

Doctor Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Deputy Rector of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) touched on the national youth policy.

Meanwhile, Pengiran Doktor Hajah Nur-Ashikin bte Pg Haji Petra, Lecturer at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Education Institute, Universiti Brunei Darussalam explained about the education system since 1962 which carried the objective of making the country's generation as a generation who are loyal to the monarch and country. Another panel member, Awang Hilman bin Haji Salim, Assistant Lecturer at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Islamic Studies Centre, Co-Founder of al-Minhaaj Centre, Qualified Daie' of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, discussed on solat or prayer which teaches mankind to be more disciplined.

Overall, the Premier Forum focussed on the role of youths as a very valuable asset for the country. Youth act as a country's pillar of strength as well as the inheriting leaders of the future. Youths should be nurtured, educated and guided onto the right path to become a generation that is knowledgeable, pious, faithful, and nobly behaved for the country truly requires a next generation among youths who are willing to shoulder the responsibility and hold the trust honestly and sincerely. Youths who possess integrity, are visionary, educated and productive are the pillars of prosperity and peace for the country and can save the country from being burdened by unwanted problems. Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia USTAZ Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also viewed an exhibition themed "Pemerintahan Raja Soleh Membawa Berkat". This year's Knowledge Convention Exhibition portrays the glory of the 50 years of religious services during His Majesty's reign. It among others showcases the background and history of Islam in the country, the progress of the religion, Islamic Economy and Finance, halal food, assimilation of spiritual values for civil servants and security personnel and the grassroots leadership institution. Meanwhile, the Balai Kenangan Special Exhibition themed "Raja Kesayangan: Allah dan Rakyat", includes an exhibit of the Mushaf Brunei Darussalam.

This year's Knowledge Convention Premier Forum is jointly organised by the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Religious Affairs.
