MELAKA

A manager of an agricultural organisation here has been arrested for alleged misappropriation of RM2.54mil under the Federal Government's fertiliser scheme for paddy farmers.

The 38-year-old was arrested by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers at his office on Jalan Hang Tuah here at about 3pm on Monday (Nov 20).

The manager is believed to have submitted 23 false claims for the supply of 56,700 bags of fertiliser throughout 2016 without the approval of the organisation.

MACC's senior investigation director Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani confirmed the arrest.

He said the signature of a top official of a farmers' organisation was allegedly forged to make the claims.
