Get-Together Ceremony with Citizens and Residents
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced a Get-Together Ceremony with citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam who are currently in the United Kingdom and Eire.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced a Get-Together Ceremony with citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam who are currently in the United Kingdom and Eire. The ceremony took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane, London, United Kingdom. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri at the ceremony were; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Jefriah.
Upon arrival at the hotel, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by His Excellency Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the United Kingdom and Datin; as well as Awang Muhammad Hasif bin HAJI Awang Nordin and Dayang Siti Nuramirah binti Haji Sabli, President and Vice-President of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire.
His Majesty and Her Majesty then proceeded to the Wellington Ballroom for a High Tea Reception. Their Majesties later signed a commemorative parchment before joining a photograph session with senior officers from the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in London as well as the President and Vice-President of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire.
Their Majesties were then invited for a photo session with the recipients of Universiti Brunei Darussalam's "The Chancellor's Scholar" for the 2017/2018 session. His Majesty and Her Majesty then proceeded to the Grand Ballroom for the Get-Together Ceremony. The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam by the Brunei Students Association of the University of Portsmouth.
The ceremony continued with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Awangku Liyaqat Zhaehierul Haq bin Pengiran Haji Zulkarnain from the University of Leeds, while the translation of the verses was read by Awang Norsaidi bin Serali from the University of Southampton.bTo bless the ceremony, Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
In a welcoming address, Awang Muhammad Hasif bin Awang Nordin, the President of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire, among other things delivered a pledge of unwavering loyalty and allegiance towards His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. He added that Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire will continue to together play a role in producing students who are highly competitive, creative and visionary, apart from instilling Bruneian values and uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy concept.
The function proceeded with a video clip titled "Generasi Cemerlang dan Berwawasan" presentation. His Majesty then conferred the Universiti Brunei Darussalam's "The Chancellor's Scholar" for the 2017/2018 session to Dayang Hajah Hanisah binti Haji Awang Sharif (Phd Clinical Medicine Research, Imperial College London) and Dayang Najeehah binti Haji Abdul Hamid (Masters in Philosophy Sociology - Modern Society & Global Transformations, Newham College, University of Cambridge).
At this ceremony, His Majesty received a pesambah from the President of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire, while Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri received a pesambah from the Vice President.
His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then proceeded to meet and greet more than one thousand 700 citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam who are in the United Kingdom and Eire, comprising of students, government officials as well as those on vacation. The ceremony also featured a Nasyid performance by the Brunei Religious Officer Student Association (BruROSA).
The presence of His Majesty at such a ceremony reflects the Monarch's attentiveness towards academic development and the student's welfare, and this will become a sweet memory and encouragement for the students.
