SHAH ALAM
Two armed men were shot dead in a confrontation with police in Section 7 here early Thursday.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said officers from the Selangor Serious Crimes Unit (D9) had earlier been dispatched to the location following a tip-off.
"We received information about an attempted house break-in at Section 7, Shah Alam at around 3.40am," he said when contacted.
SAC Fadzil said the team caught up with the suspects, who were armed, and told them to surrender. However, the men attempted to attack the police instead, forcing officers to fire several rounds at them.
"Both suspects did not have any identification documents on them," he said, adding that police found tools believed to have be used in house break-ins on the suspects.
SAC Fadzil said there had been seven house break-ins and robberies in the housing area since the beginning of this year.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
