Visit to Schools Affected By Floods

The Ministry of Education has outlined several plans of action to address issues arising from the recent floods so that the situation could be controlled in an orderly and organised manner. The measures are to ensure that the repairing of infrastructure and facilities damaged and affected by the floods can be carried out immediately. The aim is also to ensure that the new school session can begin on the 2nd of January 2018 as scheduled. The plan of action involves schools, the Schools Department and the Health Safety, Security and Environment, HSSE Division of the Department of Administration and Services. The matter was shared by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education during a visit yesterday morning to schools effected by the recent floods in Temburong District. Among other things the Minister said damaged school books and equipment would be replaced.
The three schools visited by the Ministry of Education's delegation were Sultan Hassan Bangar, Puni and Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi primary schools. The delegation took a closer look at the schools after the cleaning work was done. The floods caused a number of class rooms to inundate by water and roads to several schools were also affected. Following the visit, the Ministry of Education will take appropriate action in handling and controlling any problems caused by the unexpected floods. The delegation included Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Education, Doctor Haji Azman bin Haji Ahmad, the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Awang Haji Azis bin Haji Nayan, the ministry's Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (for Core Education).
