'Great Debate Competition 2018'

The 'Great Debate Competition 2018' is a platform to empower, educate and facilitate the students to be open minded and develop communication as well as critical thinking skills. Such skills are useful in university life and their future careers apart from providing recognition for them to show their performance in research and communication. The competition which is organised by the British High Commission with the support of the Ministry of Education began this morning with a briefing and coaching workshop for all participants, teachers and judges. The ceremony took place at the Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre.
The briefing was delivered by Awang Haji Mahathir bin Haji Mokhtar, Education Officer of the Department of Co-Curriculum Education. In an interview with RTB, Awang Haji Mahathir explained that the competition aims to encourage the students to engage the current social and economic issues apart from teaching them to think fast and listen, followed by provide an opinion.
