Sixty-three students from Seri Mulia Sarjana School paid a visit yesterday to the Creative Space Art Gallery and Studio, which features artwork that will go on display at the EMERGE Project exhibition, in Sengkurong.
The EMERGE exhibition is due to open April 8, and will run for a month, with eight artists displaying their work.
Creative Space is a contemporary art gallery and studio that operates as an agent to foster and contribute to the flourishing of sustainable ecosystems in the Brunei creative industry. The visiting students also had the privilege of viewing the gallery in between exhibitions, and learning more about the upcoming exhibit, EMERGE.
"EMERGE is all about creating a platform for the local artists to be seen, and to be exposed both locally and internationally. We are currently compiling a set of video interviews and portfolios to be sent aboard, including Korea, in order to promote the works of local artists and at the same time promote Brunei as a hub of creativity," said Osveanne Osman, Manager of Creative Space Art Gallery and Studio and organiser of the EMERGE exhibition.
Besides the upcoming exhibition, Creative Space will also be hosting two other events.
The first, in collaboration with BWN Big Cookout, will take place on April 29. The second event is scheduled for May 1, and will be Brunei's first ever "ART JAM" signature event, during which artists in the EMERGE project will be creating works of art together with members of the public who wish to join in.
