Approximately 30 thousand people will take part in the 34th National Day Grand Assembly on the 24th of this month at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital, starting at 7.30 in the morning. Speaking at a media conference on Brunei Darussalam's 34th National Day, Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports explained that around 7 thousand students and public servants will be involved in the field performance, and 23 thousand participants will take part in the March Past that is divided into 14 clusters including national security, public service, socio economy and mosque takmir. At the conference, Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila shared on some of the main events for the celebration.

 

The Kesyukuran, Mass Fardhu Maghrib and Isya prayer as well as the Reading of Surah Yassi and Doa Kesyukuran will be held on the 22nd of February.  This will be held at all mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide. Meanwhile, the 'Kayuhan Semangat Hari Kebangsaan' cycling event will take place on Sunday, February 25 in the capital. The 'Belia Cinta Tanah Air' programme will be held from the 19th to the 24th of this month, while the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony 2018 will take place simultaneously at all 4 districts on March 8, 2018.

 

At the media conference, a number of briefings were also delivered by Awang Razali bin Haji Badar, Head of Protocol Section, Jabatan Adat Isitadat Negara, as Co-Chairman for Invitation and Protocol Working Committee; Awang Ali bin Metussin, Assistant Director of Land Transport as Co-Chairman representative for the Transportation Working Committee; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Awang Hamri Aslan bin Hj Abu Hanafiah, Acting Head of Operation, Royal Brunei Police Force Traffic Control and Investigation Department, as Co-Chairman representative for the Safety and Traffic Control Committee; and Awang Ali Tarmizi bin Haji Ramli, Information Officer at the Information Department as Co-Chairman representative for Media and Publicity Working Committee.
