ISB Sports Team Off to Penang for FOBISIA

 May 12th, 2016  |  05:21 AM  |   1792 views

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

There was a palpable atmosphere of nerves and excitement at the airport on Tuesday as the International School Brunei (ISB) primary school sports team departed for Penang, Malaysia, to represent Brunei Darussalam at the upcoming Under-11 Age Group Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Games.

The ISB contingent, consisting of seven teachers and 42 student-athletes, will be participating in four days of sporting events hosted by St Christopher's International Primary School Penang.

According to ISB head coach Jodie Fletton, the athletes have been hard at work throughout the year and will be participating in swimming, athletics, T-Ball and football events. She also lauded ISB and FOBISIA for giving these students the opportunity to represent their school and Brunei in a foreign country.

The event will kick off with athletics and swimming, which will see ISB square off against seven other international schools around Asia, including China, Thailand and Malaysia.

The experience will not only be rewarding for the children in a sporting sense, said Fletton, but gives them the opportunity to forge friendships with their peers from distant parts of the region.
