In the name of development, the Brunei Basketball Association yesterday encouraged locals to apply for the national coaching job.

Applicants, who have to be 25-45 years old, are required to possess an International Basketball Federation (FIBA) coaching certificate and either a yellow or red IC.

The probation period for the successful applicant is three months.

The decision to hire a local coach was supported by the Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, said the association.

The national team has been without a coach since Nomar's sudden resignation in December last year.

The national side are hoping to participate in the upcoming Borneo City Cup in Labuan on July 22.
