Industry Competency Framework Programme Helps Decrease At Rate Of Unemployment

The issue of unemployment was among the matters raised that involves school leavers, local and overseas graduates. Even though the government has taken measures such as the establishing the iReady, the rate of unemployment has yet to decrease.
According to Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis, the rate of unemployment that has yet to decrease is often linked to job seekers being selective in finding employment, or non-marketable academic qualifications. Yang Berhormat queried on its effects on the government's measures by establishing bodies such as iReady in reducing unemployment. Yang Berhormat also questioned on other strategies to overcome the issue, and planning to change titles of several posts such as cleaners and labourers in Divisions 4 and 5.
In response to the query, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office said that labourers and cleaners are posts under Divisions 4 and 5. Since the proposal has a wide scope that involves a number of different posts, a review on the suitability to change the post's titles will be carried out.
Meanwhile, Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussein, the Minister of Energy and Industry stated that as of 22nd February 2018, one thousand 263 graduates are taking part in the iReady programme. Out of that figure, 146 graduate have permanent jobs in the government, private sector and statutory boards.
On the issue of job opportunities, the Minister of Energy and Industry added that the number of local jobseekers have decreased due to their participation in the Industry Competency Framework Programme, ICF. Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny said the ICF is a collaboration between the Energy and Industry Department with the Ministry of Education, which consults with industries in producing employees who have technical skills that meets the demands of the industries.
