A 10-million-dollar-allocation and Planning Cost of 315 million dollars have been prepared to fund the national housing projects as one of the government's continuous efforts to provide affordable housing to low-income citizens. The allocation was among the matters proposed in the final budget focus namely maintaining public well-being. The focus also allocates budget for people with special needs, and several programmes under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said in an effort to extend the people's social safety net, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consents for the Special Needs Allowance that took effect from 1st of January 2018. This is awarded to the country' citizens and permanent residents who are qualified and aged 15 years and above, and is extended to citizens and permanent residents aged below 15 years at a rate of 150 dollars. This can only take place once the Special Need's status have been validated by government medical officers.

 

The Second Minister of Finance proposed a 10-million dollar allocation and Planning Cost of 315 million dollars to fund projects pertaining to national housing, as one of the government's continuous efforts to provide affordable housing to low-income citizens. Planning Cost of 21 million dollars has been prepared to improve the country's public transportation system's efficacy, while another 11 point 5 million dollars with planning cost of 45 point 8 million dollars have been allocated for flood mitigation management. Apart from that, a 37-point-3-million dollar allocation is also prepared for maintaining public facilities and infrastructures.

 

Apart from allocation through the National Housing Scheme, the fifth budget focus also allocated 78 million dollars for healthcare services and medical supply, while another 30 million dollars have been allocated to fund patients who are being treated at the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre and the Gleneagles Jerudong Park Medical Centre. Allocation for rubbish collection is 7 point 3 million dollars to maintain cleanliness of the environment such as recreational parks and others.
