'Productive and Innovative Expenditure to Maintain the Country's Prosperity' is the theme for the 2018/2019 Financial Year budget proposal. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah explained the focus and priority of the government expenditure that is directed to 5 main foci.

Yang Berhormat said the theme of the Financial Year 2018/2019 Budget explains that the government budget objective is to focus on programmes that can enhance productivity and explore opportunities to improve sustainable economic resources and activities. Apart from that, the budget planning also focuses on activities in the non-oil and gas sector as well as generating more government opportunities especially in the private sector. The focus and priority of the government expenditure is directed to 5 main foci. Firstly, through prudent spending; secondly, by establishing job opportunities and capacity building; thirdly, increasing national productivity through innovation; fourthly, facilitating business and finally, maintaining public well-being.
