A man was killed while two others were seriously injured in an accident at the Telipok Ria roundabout here.

In the 4am accident on Tuesday (March 20), 59-year-old Thong Chung Wai was travelling with two friends in the four-wheel-drive vehicle when he lost control of the car.

It is learnt that the vehicle skidded before crashing by the roadside.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said the two passengers were taken out of the vehicle and then to the hospital.

"Thong was pinned to his seat from the impact of the mishap," she said in a statement and added that firemen had to extricate the man from his seat.

Medical attendants at the scene pronounced him dead not long after, and the body was taken to the hospital for post mortem.
