The ASEAN Framework Agreement on Cross-Border Transport of Passengers by Road Vehicles was an important achievement for ASEAN Transport Facilitation Working Group, ASEAN TFWG.   The Acting Director of Land Transport said the agreement was signed during the 22nd ASEAN transport Minister Meeting in Singapore last year, and it is important to take serious actions to ratify the Agreement and also to work on its implementation guidelines for smooth of cross-border road transport of passengers in ASEAN.  Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud stressed the matter during the Opening Ceremony of the 35th ASEAN Transport Facilitation Working Group Meeting at the International Convention Centre, ICC in Berakas this morning.  Another important agenda is the continuous commitment of the other ASEAN transport facilitation framework agreements and its implementing protocols.

 

 Among other things, the 3-day meeting will discuss developments in the implementation of several framework agreements on transportation and hear reports on the progress of the ASEAN Customs Transit Management System which is a pilot project on the facilitation of goods movements to enhance the regional trade and production networks, as well as establishing a more unified market for its firms and consumers. The meeting is hosted by the Land Transport Department, Ministry of Communication is attended by delegates from ASEAN member States, the ASEAN Secretariat as well as representatives from Japan and several transportation organisations.
