Several activities will be held in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam World Autism Awareness Day 2018. Among the activities are Smarter Brunei's Awareness Programme and forum which will be held throughout the year. Smarter Brunei, last night, organised the 11th World Autism Awareness Day celebration at the Royal Wharf in the capital.
The celebration was officiated by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated every 2nd of April. This year's celebration themed 'Empowering Women and Girls with Autism'. This year, Smarter Brunei joins the United Nations in observing the World Autism Awareness Day towards empowering women and girls with autism. Smarter Brunei was established in September 2001. Smarter Brunei now has 3 centres, with 108 students with Autism including 11 women and girls.
