LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah attended the event on 'A Celebration of Brunei's Rainforests', held at the Royal Geographical Society in London, United Kingdom.

His Royal Highness was greeted on arrival by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; Mr. Alasdair Macleod, Head of Enterprise and Resources at the Royal Geographical Society; and Datin Dr. Dayang Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. His Royal Highness was invited to sign the Visitor's Book and receive a Pesambah presented by the Head of Enterprise and Resources at the Royal Geographical Society.

His Royal Highness then proceeded to a meet and greet as well as a group photograph session with members of the panel presenting on the sustainability and biodiversity of Brunei Darussalam's rainforest.

His Royal Highness later proceeded to the Education Centre at the Royal Geographical Society.  The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Prior to departure, His Royal Highness watched a video presentation entitled 'Brunei Darussalam: A Biodiversity Hotspot".

The event on 'A Celebration of Brunei's Rainforests' was hosted by the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in London in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam and Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The occasion was held to promote Brunei Darussalam's rainforests as an internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot and to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Brunei Rainforest Project, a 14 month expedition that was conducted in 1991-1992.  The project was jointly organized by Universiti Brunei Darussalam and the Royal Geographical Society to survey the undisturbed lowland primary rainforests in the Temburong District, which led to the formation of the Kuala Belalong Field Studies Centre.
