BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Solat or the prayer performed with sincerity and total concentration solely with the hope of gaining the acceptance of Allah the Almighty can prevent a person from committing wrong doings and sins. The congregational or mass prayer is 27 times better than praying alone. This was stated in the special talk during the National Isra' Mi'raj celebration yesterday morning. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the event which took place at the International Convention Centre.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by:
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara;
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Major Religious Events of 1439,
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti,
And Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brothers,
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office,
His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;
The verses of Al-Quran read by Awang Abdul Qawiyyel Azeez bin Haji Abdul Rajid, the winner of the Mosque Youth Al-Quran Reading Competition 2015 described performing prayer is the pillar and core of all religious deeds and rites because it would be the first to assessed on the Day of Judgement.
In his welcoming address, the Minister of Religious Affairs highlighted two major side events organised in conjunction with the Isra' Mi'raj celebration, yesterday's special Dawn mass prayer at all mosques, suraus and religious halls where the main programme was a tazkirah and reading of Surah Al-Khafi and the 'It's Easy To Pray' Carnival which will take place tomorrow at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien during the weekly Bandarku Ceria Programme.
The people's unity, efficacy of education, economic stability including national security as it moves to accomplish Wawasan Negara 2035 are closely related to the blessings brought by the mass prayers which bring the country's Muslims closer to Allah the Almighty and unity among the people. Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Besar, the Acting Raes of the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB, in a special talk titled "Sembahyang Berjemaah Meraih Berkat" or "Mass Prayers Brings Multiple Blessings" stressed the blessings in this world and in the Hereafter. The rewards from Allah the Almighty include blessings, deliverance from the fires of Hell and hypocrisy, a place in Paradise, forgiveness and a light on the Day of Resurrection.
The Isra' Mi'raj celebration was enlivened further with the performance of "Stories and Examples in Islam' by the Youth as well as Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes of the Lambak Kiri Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme Mosque, the champion of the Stories and Examples in Islam story telling competition. To invoke blessings for the ceremony, a doa selamat was read by the State Mufti.
Although the Isra' Mi'raj of Prophet Muahmmad Sallallalhu Alaihi Wassalam occurred more than one thousand and four hundred forty years ago, the lessons it brings are significant in today's challenging daily life. The country's citizens and residents are grateful that the peace and unity which the people now enjoy have enabled the nation to commemorate the great event in comfort and security.
