Launch Of Dual Diploma Course In Health Care

The Ministry of Health hopes to reach its target of at least 25 palliative care nurses by year 2021. Speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony of The Dual Course for Diploma in Palliative Nursing Care and Diploma in Caregivers yesterday afternoon, the Minister of Health said at present the country only has one palliative care nurse and no certified caregivers. Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Md Hisham bin Jaafar also said Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, PJSC remains positive and committed in educating doctors, nurses, ancillary workers as well as other Human Resources requirements to support the services of the cancer centre.

 

The 21-enrolled students will undergo an intensive one-year programme in practical skills to develop the aspired relationship between Care Giver and Palliative which is top priority in the training. The modules emphasise on the fundamentals of basic sciences, applied pathological basis of cancer, treatment modalities used to kill the cancer cells, applied psychology, pharmacology, care of the dying and spiritual beliefs incorporated in the care.
