Islam encourages and advocates that its ummah impart religious knowledge to children from an early age. Parents bear the responsibility of guarding Allah the Almighty's trust by providing children with proper education which balances between religion and worldly matters to develop a strong and true Muslim identity. The Khutbah Jumaat or Friday sermon titled 'The Importance of Education' stressed that without education, mankind would live in darkness. Without knowledge people would not be able to differentiate between right and wrong and only knowledge can save people from the tricks of Satan or the Devil.

In the sermon, the Imam or prayer leader highlighted the obligation to seek knowledge because of the many blessings and rewards promised by Allah the Almighty. Among them, the ease of entering Paradise.  Secondly in the collection of 40 Hadiths by Imam Nawawi, it is said those who perform religious acts and other deeds guided by their knowledge, Allah will give them knowledge they did not know previously. A learned person is highly respected and fortunate because his or her knowledge will never disappear or deplete. The prayer leader also highlighted the importance placed on education by the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.  The country's future success and harmony depend on the ability of the education system to produce top calibre human capital.
