The family is the most important institution in a community because it is the family which gives society and the nation individuals who are the country's hope for future success. Each family member has a responsibility which Allah the Almighty has given as a trust. In the family, the husband is the head or leader who carries the big responsibility of looking after and protecting the wife and children. This is to ensure they are happy, safe and successful in this life and in the Hereafter. The matter was highlighted in the Khutbah Jum'at or Friday sermon today titled "Building a Happy and Harmonious Family'.

In the sermon, the Imam or prayer leader also stressed the importance of religious education in warding off negative influence brought by social media. The prayer leader added a family which has no Islamic foundation is prone to problems such as mistreatment, deviation as well as moral and social problems. The sermon said it is important not to let the problems affect life. This can be achieved by instilling strong iman or faith and Islamic values in the family. Real faith and strong practise will produce a sense of responsibility and desire to do good as well as an awareness not to be involved in sins and vices. The prayer leader added parents should understand their responsibility because it is a trust from Allah the Almighty. The sermon also called on parents to give advice and support wisely and instil mutual respect among family members. Do not complain or use vile words so that the children do not feel neglected
