Family Recreation Excites And Enthrals

 May 7th, 2018  |  11:26 AM  |   1092 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The National Family Day was inspiring, motivating, lively and interactive. The celebration was more significant when His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the family recreation activities at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien where family activities and exhibitions highlighted the unique historical family event. His Majesty's presence gave extra vigour to the participants.

The monarch viewed various exhibitions providing information on the family institution. Held by government and non-government agencies as well as welfare bodies, the displays gave useful advice, support and information to enhance awareness and understanding on family issues and other related matters. Also gracing the event was His Royal Highness Prince Haji al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.

Cheerfulness and joy brightened the people's faces when His Majesty interacted with them. For the entrepreneurs, the presence of the Monarch was significant and an opportunity to express their heartfelt thanks to His Majesty.

His Majesty proceeded to the thrifty family bazaar sale organised by local companies. The majority of the vendors were youth whose participation showcased strong response to the government's call for the people to engage in entrepreneurship. The Small and Medium Enterprises or SMEs who participate regularly in the Bandarku Ceria programme naturally did not want to miss the opportunity to conduct business.

An exhibition that shared and provided information on important issues related to the family institution and areas for children to get information to boost their knowledge and interest in matters which are not part of their curriculum was another attraction during His Majesty's tour. The exhibition was organised by government agencies, associations and local companies.

The Monarch also visited the Al-Fatihah Clinic organised by the Fiqh Al-Usrah Studies Centre of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU-SB. The clinic gave the public the opportunity to check their reading of Al-Fatihah in all aspects including pronunciation and phonetics as well as check the correct way to perform solat or prayers. Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Youth Group also exhibited religious activities.

Displays organised by health related agencies attracted His Majesty's keen interest. Health plays a vital role in the happiness, well-being and security of the family institution. A loving family is one that gives priority to the health of its members as the foundation of their happiness and well-being.  A family which is spiritually and physically healthy is capable of achieving happiness and security as well as overcoming challenges.

The National Family Day is not simply conducting family activities together. More importantly, each individual should understand and practise all the messages and objectives of the celebration.  They must turn the celebration into a platform for guiding family and community members to raise awareness on the importance of love and affection among the family in order to generate true happiness and harmony.

A loving family is aware and sensitive towards family health, including in promoting the healthy lifestyle and avoiding unhealthy activities or elements such as smoking and drug abuse. By engaging in healthy activities with the family, one can distance oneself and other family members from negative influence or elements which can ruin their future.

A harmonious family plays an important role in shaping a united community which cooperates and acts together. Because of the importance of the family institution in ensuring national unity, harmony and security, the National Family Day impacts strongly in creating a strong, progressive and resilient family institution. The strong presence and involvement of the community in the fun, lively and beneficial celebration reflect the people's solid support towards the aspiration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to fortify and elevate the importance of family happiness and harmony for the sake of the family's future as well as the future of the nation. His Majesty's presence gave inspiration and motivation to the national event organised into major clusters such as religion, community, recreation and sports. All these were in line with the celebration's theme, 'Keluargaku Penyayang, Negara Gemilang' or literally, 'My Loving Family, Glorious Country'.
