His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam bestowed State Honorary Medals of Brunei Darussalam to 448 recipients. The presentation of the medals were in conjunction with His Majesty's 71st Birthday. The ceremony took place this morning at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kenchana in Istana Nurul Iman.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, presented the honorary medals as the representative of His Majesty. Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

155 males and 293 females were bestowed with the Pingat Indah Kerja Baik, PIKB, comprising of officers and staff of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health and private sectors as well as the national athletes.

Recipients of the PIKB must have a clean record of service in the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam including at least very good performance in the last three years.

To bless the ceremony, doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Pedalaman, High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Department and Government Officers including Penghulus and Village Heads.
