The former CEO of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and a board member who has been with the fund since it was set up have been placed on the Immigration Department's travel blacklist.
A check on the identification card numbers of Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi on the Department's Travel Status Enquiry System (SSPI) showed the results "Sila rujuk ke pejabat imigresen terdekat" (Please refer to the nearest immigration office).
Ismee and Shahrol were mentioned in page xi of the Auditor-General's executive summary of the 1MDB audit report, in connection to the issuance of RM5bil Islamic Medium Term Notes in 2009.
The results, which were displayed on the site in red letters, were the same for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who have also been barred from leaving the country.
According to an online portal, a travel ban has also been imposed on 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
His information, which the portal obtained from the court registry, saw his identification card number run through the SSPI system, returning the same results.
Attempts to contact Arul to confirm if a ban is in place were unsuccessful.
