Wisdom Bowls Club Determined to Win Kinabalu Triples Borneo Cup Lawn Bowls Championship

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Wisdom Bowls Club (WBC) are desperate to avoid a repeat of last year's final heartbreak in the Kinabalu Triples Borneo Cup Lawn Bowls Championship by winning it this year in Sabah, Malaysia.

WBC head coach Awang Haji Abdul Ghafar Pehin Orang Kaya Laksamana Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Taha has aimed to equal their feat last year by reaching the final where they eventually lost out to IPT Malaysia.

However, the head coach recognised the enormity of the players' challenge in returning to the final with the likelihood of other teams strengthening and stepping up a notch this year.

Nevertheless, Awang Haji Abdul Ghafar said that the club, which comprised the likes of Awang Md Arif Haji Amli and Awang Muhd Waie Badiuzzaman Ahmad, who recently won bronze in the 9th Asian Under-25 Lawn Bowls Championships will do their best to realise success.

"Over the past two months, we have made preparations and conducted intensive training," the head coach added.

Dubbed as the state's most prestigious competition, teams from Peninsular Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Japan, Thailand and Labuan Federal Territory will vie for top honours at the Lawn Bowls Field of the Likas Sports Complex which will be held from May 23 till May 26.
