His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to His Excellency Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, the Government and people of the Republic of the Philippines on the occasion of its 120th Independence Day.

In the message, His Majesty stated that Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines shared long-standing ties, reaffirmed by the vibrant economic activities, extensive people-to-people exchanges and close defence cooperation. His Majesty added as important partner in ASEAN and BIMP-EAGA, His Majesty looked forward to further developing the much-valued relationship for the mutual benefit of both countries. In ending the message, His Majesty extended his kindest regards and best wishes, good health and happiness to His Excellency, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of the Republic of the Philippines.
