BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is a blessing from Allah the Almighty to all Muslims after successfully performing the fast in Ramadhan. Hari Raya is one of the country's tradition and culture that includes visiting relatives, neighbours and friends, and a practise recommended in Islam that needs to be maintained and enlivened as such practise has its own benefits. The matter was among the matters shared in today's Friday Sermon entitled "Being grateful for the blessings of Aidilfitri and the Environment'.
Aside from the blessings of Hari Raya, there are also several other important blessings from Allah the Almighty that needs to be protected and which we should be grateful about, such as the blessing for making the earth as a place for humankind. In the sermon, the Imam or prayer leader stressed that it is our responsibility to maintain and take care of it as best as possible as Allah the Almighty forbids us from causing damage on earth, be it in terms of damage to the soul, property and the environment. Touching on the important role and values of rivers, the prayer leader said the country has taken several measures to maintain the cleanliness of rivers such as launching the Brunei river clean-up and the reusable bag project. Aside from that, the 'no plastic bag' initiative is also carried out to increase the use of reusable bags and reduce the use of plastics with the aim of reducing the amount of plastic waste in the country. The prayer leader added that encouraging the use of environmentally-friendly reusable bags and inculcating a green practise will help create a country of quality in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035.
