His Majesty Consented To Grace The Graduation Ceremony

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday morning consented to grace the graduation ceremony for Year 6 students of the Jerudong International School, JIS who have completed their primary level studies. Among those who received the certificates were His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Wakeel. The ceremony took place at the Arts Centre Auditorium of JIS. Also present was Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah who is also a JIS student.
Upon arrival, Their Majesties were greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Second Minister of Finance as the Chairman of JIS Board of Directors, Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education, Doctor Haji Azman bin Haji Ahmad, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education; Datin Paduka Magdalene Chong, member of the JIS Board of Directors; and Mr. Barnaby Sandow, Principal of JIS. His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then visited the arts and design exhibition by the JIS Junior School students.
The ceremony was enlivened with several performances by the Year 6 students. The Jerudong International School began its operation in 1997 and is now 21 years old.
At the ceremony, 82 Year 6 students received certificates after completing their studies in the junior level. Among them was His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Wakeel.
In his remarks, Mr. Paul Bannister, the Principal of JIS Primary School congratulated the students on their success in completing their studies at the school and hope they will continue to be persistent and courageous in order to enhance their knowledge as well as develop their skills to the next level.
His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Wakeel also participated in the performance.
As an international school, JIS is committed to provide extensive outdoor activities and a friendly environment for its students.
The presence of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri at the ceremony reflected Their Majesties' care towards the country's development in education and will certainly motivate the students to work hard in achieving excellence.
