Study Visit To Radio Television Brunei

His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Wakeel ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, this morning made a study visit to the Department of Radio Televisyen Brunei, RTB in Bandar Seri Begawan. His Royal Highness made the visit with Year 6 students from Jerudong International School, JIS.

 

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, Director of RTB.

 

In a briefing, the Director of Radio Televisyen Brunei among other matters touched on the main role of RTB in shaping an informative and knowledgeable community through quality programs, instilling an effective and caring government image as well as acting as a medium between the government and the people through Radio, TV and new media.

 

His Royal Highness then signed the Commemorative Parchment.

 

His Royal Highness and delegation first visited the Radio Studios at RTB. 5 channels are operated daily namely Nasional, Harmoni, Pelangi, Pilihan and Nur Islam, which have its own roles and genres.

 

The delegation comprise of 40 Year 6 Jerudong International School students who are taking the Malay Language subject. The visit is an annual activity carried out by the Primary Section of the Malay Language Department for students who are taking the Malay Language subject from Years 1 to 6.

 

At the Bil Huda Studio, His Royal Highness watched the Bermukun Performance by guest mukun performers, Awang Narudin Haji Ahmad and Hajah Siti Badariah Hj Osman. The 'bermukun' programme is broadcast once a month, every third Sunday at Rangkaian Harmoni at 1.30 in the afternoon.

 

His Royal Highness then visited Studio Satu and Studio Production Gallery and took a closer look at the live broadcast of the Rampai Pagi Programme. The opportunity to become the daily program's guests is a sweet experience for the students.

 

At Studio 3, His Royal Highness was also briefed on news broadcasting. During the visit, His Royal Highness had the opportunity to try out his talent as a news reader. Throughout the visit, His Royal Highness and delegation gained knowledge on Television news broadcast.

 

His Royal Highness then signed the Royal Parchment and received a Pasambah.

 

His Royal Highness then visited the News Centre of the News and Current Affairs Section and took a closer look at the news products preparation processes as well as Script and video editing. The section's role is to deliver fast, precise and valid information for local and international news. It also plays a role in producing programs on news and current affairs, sports, documentary, TV magazine and ASEAN.

 

The JIS study visit aimed to provide exposure to the students on the importance and functions of RTB in channeling information and entertainment to the audience and listeners. Aside from that, the visit was hoped to provide a working experience in broadcasting to the students as well as to take a closer look on its processes carried out by RTB. As the government broadcasting station through the Prime Minister's Office, RTB acts as the main agency in disseminating Government's policy and information to the country's citizens and residents.
