BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

As we celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Muslims are reminded not to neglect prayers and other religious commitments. We are also advised to continue striving to improve ourselves by performing acts of faith and devotion to Allah the Almighty. The reminder was made by the Imam or prayer leader in today's Khutbah or Friday sermon. The prayer leader said the ummah should be steadfast in their faith and never stray away from the true ways of Islam under any circumstance.

In the Friday sermon, the prayer leader said people who are truly committed in performing their religious commitments, do good deeds, who are moral, faithful to Allah the Almighty and avoid what the Mighty Creator forbids will reap blessings and rewards.  Being 'istiqamah' or consistent in performing religious duties will endear the person to the Mala'ikat or Angels whose tasks include delivering Allah's blessings and rewards.  The person also will never be hounded by fear because of his or her strong belief in the power of God.  People who are 'istiqamah' in performing their religious obligations will never feel sadness, especially when losing something they love because they believe everything belongs only to Allah the Almighty.  Being consistent in performing religious duties and doing good deeds are strongly advocated by Islam.  Therefore, all religious acts performed in Ramadhan should be continued in the other months to spur the heart or spirit towards stronger religious faith.
