Lunar Eclipse Sunat Prayer

Muslims are reminded there are lessons and guidance to learn from a lunar eclipse and not to view it as a strange occurrence because it happens by the will and power of Allah the Almighty. The reminder was made in the Khutbah or sermon during the Eclipse of the Moon sunnat prayer held at all mosques, surau and religious halls in the country early yesterday morning. The focal point was the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital early yesterday morning.
The sermon was delivered by Awang Zulkifli Bin Haji Murat, the Superintendent of Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque who called on Muslims to quickly perform religious acts such as reciting zikir, takbir, give sadaqah or alms and the Istighfar or seek Allah's forgiveness when an eclipse occurs. The congregants included Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Communications, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
There was also a special Tazkirah or talk by Doctor Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili, the Director of the Language Centre, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB.
